You are you using more electricity?
Air conditioning, Windows, Doors, Insulation, Duct Work, and Roofing/venting are some of the first places we recommend you look. The highest impact will be in these areas if there are problems or if updates are needed.
Home Automation and Solar Panels/Batteries are the next steps to taking more control of your energy needs.
Heating & Air Conditioning
In the Southwest Air Conditioning accounts for the majority of many Electricity costs for the entire year. If they are not working properly it can make your bills skyrocket. Regular maintenance and, where necessary, replacement /upgrading can significantly reduce usage.
Get A QuoteDuct Work
Whether it is for Air Conditioning, heating or just for exhaust fans, duct work highly impacts the effciency of a home. Many homes in the Southwest have the Air Conditioning duct work in the attic (considered the outside). As a result, if your ducts are not insulated properly, propely lined up, or have gaps/leaks the conditioned air is blowing outside and not into your home.
Get A QuoteWindows & Doors
Let’s not breeze past the common issues with gaps and cracks that let the air from outside into your conditioned space. It take a lot of energy to maintain temperature inside and having gaps makes that even more costly. In addition, not all windows and doors are created equal. Single pane, double pane, and double pane low E windows are just a few types of windows with vastly dierent abilities to keep the weather outside out. The frame of the windows and doors and if they conduct heat also has a huge impact on your home’s ability to maintain temperature without costing an arm/leg.
Get A QuoteInsulation
In most homes the attic space is considered the outside of the home. This is because the insulation barrier between the outside and the conditioned pace is sitting on the ceiling and not the roof. Over time insualtion gets moved, blown compressed or even deteriorates. Even one low spot can cause the entire layer of insulation to significantly lose it’s effectiveness.
Get A QuoteRoofing and Venting
A commonly overlooked issue is the condition of the roof and venting of the attic space through the roof. If you have ever been in an Arizona attic during the summer you know it gets hot. If the air does not have a way to get or circulate fresh air in the temperature climbs and stays up. While the attic is considered outside space it is still touching the insulation and other barriers to the insider of your home. As a result that heat transfers into your home making it harder to cool. In addition, the duct work used to cool the home is running through that space so your A/C system will have to work much harder to do it’s job (this means more electricity).
